Overview
Rownd Precision is a manufacturing technology company that develops and manufactures desktop CNC lathes and 5-axis milling machines. Its machines are much more affordable, smaller, more portable and easier to use than industrial CNC machines. Rownd runs the entire process in-house, from mechanical design to electronics and software development, assembly, testing and shipping.
Rownd’s product family includes the Rownd Lathe desktop CNC lathe and the Rownd 5X 5-axis milling machine. The machines can be controlled through the company’s own software, its mobile app and the touchscreen on the device. Users can set tools with a smartphone and joystick, and thanks to the tool library and open-source software, they can machine parts without advanced CAM knowledge. In addition to the machines, the company offers add-on modules such as a measurement probe, workholding systems, spindle, cooling and camera, as well as consumables such as tool holders, cutting inserts, filters and maintenance kits.
Rownd launched its first product with a Kickstarter campaign in 2023. After moving to mass production, it has continued to grow through direct sales on Shopify and an international distributor network. The Kickstarter campaign for its new product, Rownd 5X, starts on November 11, 2026. The company’s sales partners include ERM in France, NK Works in Japan, 3D Prima in Sweden and Canada-based RobotShop. To date, more than 240 machines have been sold in over 45 countries, with the US as the largest market. Rownd’s target customers range from R&D centers and SMEs (B2B) to schools and educational institutions (B2G) and individual makers (B2C). The company manufactures at its production facility in Nilüfer, Bursa, and carries out its R&D activities at İTÜ ARI Teknokent as an incubation company. Its trademark is registered in Turkey, and a trademark application has also been filed in the US.
The Rownd Lathe has an 800 W spindle running at 0–3,000 rpm, hardened linear rails and an aluminum body, and can machine parts up to approximately 150 mm in diameter and 300 mm in length. The machine has a 7-inch touchscreen and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and can be controlled wirelessly with a smartphone or a game controller.
